Downtown Salt Lake City Rising
The Church is in the midst of a building program in downtown Salt Lake that encompasses the block just south of the temple where the Crossroads Mall used to be. The reason that the Church is doing this can be summed up in two words—the temple. It is paramount that the temple be surrounded by beauty and protected.
Below is a video clip of a rendering of what the new space will be like. It features food courts, shopping, professional office space and several towers of condominiums. An hour-glass bridge, which should be stunningly beautiful, will arch across Main Street . City Creek will wander through the entire project and there will be special emphasis on trees, fountains, walkways and open areas to add to the beauty of the center. The area features a food court with a retractable roof.
